Kevin Kane

As a legal professional, I've dedicated my career to providing exceptional legal services to the community. For the past six years, I have served as an Attorney Referee for the 45th Circuit Court and Juvenile Court under David C. Tomlinson. I have also taken on the role of Juvenile Court Director, where I am responsible for overseeing critical decision-making processes for young people and their families. These experiences have taught me to be meticulous and thorough in my work, which I bring to every case I undertake.​​Professional Experience: Boards and Committees Kevin Kane is Involved In

Role: Board Member

Contribution: Coordinates and enhances human services across the county, focusing on improving residents' well-being.

St. Joseph County Security Committee

Role: Former Chairperson

Contribution: Enhanced security measures and emergency preparedness protocols for county facilities.

St. Joseph County Executive Committee

Role: Member

Contribution: Influences strategic decisions and improves operational efficiencies within county governance.

St. Joseph County Bar Association

Roles: Former President (two-year term), Former Vice President, Former Secretary

Contribution: Led professional development initiatives, organized CLE seminars, and fostered community engagement.

St. Joseph County Truancy Task Force

Role: Member

Contribution: Revamped the truancy petition process and strengthened collaboration between schools and the courts.

St. Joseph County Suicide Prevention Network

Role: Co-Creator and Former Chairperson

Contribution: Organized community initiatives and implemented mental health programs in schools to combat suicide.

Children’s Trauma Assessment Group (CTAG)

Role: Executive Board Member

Contribution: Provides timely trauma assessments for children and coordinates support services to aid recovery.

Juvenile Mental Health Court

Role: Director

Contribution: Established and oversees the court to provide mental health interventions and support for juveniles under the supervision of Judge David C. Tomlinson.

Thomas Cooley Law School 

Kevin started in 2007, and during that time was able to achieve a certificate of merit for district court practice and was on the Dean’s List twice. I completed along with my required courses; courses in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Family Law, District Court Practice, Trial Skills, Pre-trial Skills and an Externship with the St. Joseph County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. 

1999 - 2003

Western Michigan University

Kevin started his college career at KVCC and transferring to WMU after 2 semesters. Kevin went on to graduate with a bachelors of arts with a major in public law and a minor in comparative religion.

1997

Centreville High School 

Kevin graduated from Centreville High School while playing Baseball (all-state honorable mention), and Football. Kevin also began an adventure with his classmate and friend  in the concession business (NEOS) taking their sub making abilities around the state and eventually putting a permanent store front in Battle Creek before he moved on to College.
